2022 (SOPHOMORE SEASON)
Played in 12 games with four starts at right tackle… Played in 422 snaps and graded out at 84 percent… Finished the season with 11 knockdowns… Played a career-high 87 snaps at No. 19 BYU (9/29) and had a career-high five knockdowns… Graded out at a career-best 96 percent at Colorado State (10/15).

2021 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN SEASON)
Appeared in nine games, making eight starts at right tackle... Played in 646 snaps and graded out at 80 percent... Finished the season with 31.0 knockdowns, which tied for the second-most on the team.

2020 (REDSHIRT)
Redshirted during his first season at Utah State as he did not appear in any games.

HIGH SCHOOL
Three-star recruit according to 247Sports.com... Earned Arizona Class 2A first-team all-state honors as both a tight end and defensive end as a prep senior at Thatcher (Arizona) High School... Helped the Eagles to three-straight state championships from his sophomore to senior seasons... Also earned all-region honors as a senior and was named his team’s Defensive Lineman of the Year... During his senior season, he caught eight passes for 158 yards (19.8 ypr) and two touchdowns on offense and recorded 48 tackles, which included 1.0 sacks and 9.0 tackles for loss, while adding one interception that he returned 44 yards on defense... Named Thatcher High School Athlete of the Year following his senior season... Also earned all-region and all-state honors in basketball, along with being named his team’s Player of the Year, and was a state qualifier in the discus and state runner-up in the shot put on the track & field team... Was also named his basketball team’s Player of the Year following his junior season as he earned honorable mention all-state and all-region accolades, along with qualifying for state in both the discus and shot put on the track & field team... Also earned all-region honors in basketball following his sophomore season.

Son of Rick and Rachel Motes… Has four brothers and one sister… His brother, Heath, played football at Mount Union... Aunt, Lisa Motes Connolly, was a first-team All-American in volleyball at BYU, where she is also in the school’s Hall of Fame… Cousin, Jenny Connolly, was a 21-time All-American in swimming at Tennessee… Cousin, Zack Von Payne, played on Utah State’s club lacrosse team... Wife’s name is Raely and the couple has one son, Cash... Majoring in interdisciplinary studies... Last name is pronounced Mow-ts.
